Adventurer's Guild
Sundrake Chapter

An adventuring-focused serious roleplaying community.

About Us

Hi there! We're an easygoing roleplaying community focused on a broad, varied cast of adventurer-type characters and exist primarily as a networking space for likeminded writers. Although we do host events when we feel like it, we preach "taking responsibility for your own fun": good things come to those who wait, but roleplay does not.In-character, the Sundrake Chapter is meant to be one of the many chapters of the Adventurer's Guild of Thanalan, although characters from other regions are more than welcome to join and say they're registered with another chapter. We generally operate on a "yes, and" system with these things, but the Adventurer Ratings are intended to be universal across every chapter of the Adventurer's Guild in any location. To facilitate easier networking and event organization, we make use of an "Adventurer Rating" system. You can think of it as an in-character equivalent to levels, where a higher rating corresponds to a higher level of experience, skill, reputation and "power" overall. Players are free to choose the Adventurer Rating of their characters themselves, but we're happy to help you figure out which one fits best if you're not entirely sure.Recruitment-wise, we're always happy to welcome more people into our community as long as they follow the rules: whether you're only just dipping your toes into text-based roleplay or you have a dozen Pulitzers collecting dust on your shelf, we'll be happy to have you around. If you're interested, please contact us!

Community Rules

Depending on severity, players found to be in violation of these rules may either be confronted by staff or removed from the community outright without dialogue. Joining our Discord or otherwise participating in our community activities automatically implies agreeing to follow these rules and guidelines.

1) The Golden Ruleā„¢
Treat others how you wish to be treated.
This is the core understanding that all other community rules are derived from.

2) Don't be a bigot!
We do not tolerate intolerance. We welcome queer people, people of color, people with disabilities and anyone else abiding by our rules.

3) No minors allowed!
We do not believe children should share online community spaces with adult strangers: no minors allowed, thank you very much.

4) No generative AI use at all, full stop.
We do not permit the use of generative AI in our space and reject it's use in creative spaces overall. This is an unconditional blanket ban.

5) Keep it in-character (or out-of-character)!
We expect all community members to separate in-character interactions and relationships from out-of-character interactions and relationships.

6) Don't spoil the fun!
While we do permit high-powered characters, we expect players to exercise restraint as to not "eliminate the stakes" with their OC's presence.

7) No offensive caricatures!
We do not permit caricature characters and politely ask players to gently educate one another & assume ignorance, not malice, when unclear.

8) No fetish characters!
We do not permit fetish characters, i.e. OCs with extra-large personalities, or the use of labels such as "F+" or "Shemale". Trans OCs are obviously fine!

9) You can bend the lore (a little)!
We encourage proximity to the lore; a little lore-bending is fine as long as high verisimilitude is maintained and canon contradictions are low.

10) We have our own stories to tell!
We discourage in-character ties to the MSQ cast and forbid players from RPing as the Warrior of Light: they're an NPC and never on-screen.

11) Don't go crazy with mods!
We have a Vanilla+ stance on modding: players should strive to match their vanilla appearances to their modded one as closely as possible.

12) Keep your pants on!
We believe that while expressing sexuality and writing erotic scenes is perfectly fine, such things have no place in public community spaces.

13) It's a shared hobby!
We're all here to have fun, and no one enjoys working themselves to the bone to consistently pump out events and roleplay content. We therefore expect all players to take responsibility for their own fun; if you'd like to see more events, we will happily help you set something up and teach you how to GM things yourself.

14) Characters must be suitable!
Our goal is to create a writing environment for character-driven narratives, which makes reasonably grounded characters a necessity: exotic concepts such as Allagan clones, androids, sin eaters, space explorers and similar are "too much" for our community. Likewise, characters existing in a consequence-free world would be a poor fit: undisguised (or poorly disguised) voidsent in public areas, insane serial killers, etc. If you're unsure, ask us!

Adventurer Ratings

"Adventurer Rating" is often misunderstood to mean rank, but beware - while it is recommended for guild members with lower ratings to listen to those with higher ratings, it is not a requirement. An adventurer's rating is how the guild measures their general level of experience, competence and trustworthiness, with each of the three weighed equally: completing a hundred quests does not equal competence, defeating a behemoth does not equal trustworthiness, and being an embodiment of virtue does not equal experience.Players may choose the Adventurer Rating of their character(s) themselves to approximate their power level. The levels below exist as a relative scale, not as direct 1:1 copy of in-game levels: "Lv.1" represents completely untrained, ordinary people without special traits or powers. The percentage listed is the approximate amount of combatant adventurers the rating applies to, i.e. every 3rd adventurer has the Bronze rating, every 5th adventurer has the Iron rating, every 10th adventurer is still only a Sprout, etc. Please understand that while we are not opposed to higher-powered characters, our narratives and events are intended for low/medium-powered characters. We therefore ask players to refrain from playing characters with the Platinum rating and to coordinate with staff if planning to play characters with the Gold rating.

Heroic Ratings (ca. 5%)

Platinum Rating: Lv.100 (>1%)

The highest rating. Platinum-rated adventurers are the de-facto saviors of the realm, dealing with matters affecting the entire star and writing history wherever they go. Noteworthy platinum-rated adventurers include the legendary Warrior of Light and most of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn - at least those who happen to be registered adventurers.

Gold Rating: Lv.80 (>1%)

The second-highest adventurer rating. Gold-rated adventurers are heroes renowned for truly amazing feats, working directly for national governments and giving bards new material to sing with every adventure of theirs. Examples of gold-rated adventurers include the so-called "B-Team" of the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.

Silver Rating: Lv.60 (ca. 5%)

The third-highest adventurer rating. Silver-rated adventurers have gone the extra malm to become true masters of their chosen disciplines and rarely still take their work from standard quest boards, typically being contacted directly by public servants instead. While many happen to be Archons, the title is neither a requirement for this rating nor a cause for advancement to it.

Veteran Ratings (ca. 30%)

Steel Rating: Lv.50 (ca. 10%)

Steel-rated adventurers are those who have dedicated years upon years of their lives to the trade to become true experts in their field. Highly skilled, greatly experienced and completely dependable, they are entrusted with investigating missing parties, training fresh guild members, and handling the most dangerous of quests.

Iron Rating: Lv.40 (ca. 20%)

Iron-rated adventurers form the "upper middle" of the Adventurer's Guild. Having learned all there is to learn to being an adventurer and having successfully completed an advancement exam, they often function as party leaders, though some prefer to work alone. The iron rating is the minimum required to become a levemete.

Standard Ratings (ca. 45%)

Bronze Rating: Lv.30 (ca. 30%)

Bronze-rated adventurers make up the majority of guild members, typically joining the parties of higher-rated adventurers in a squire-like role or banding together with those of equal rating to try and prove themselves, often braving dungeons and expeditions together. Many say this is the highest rating a "part-time adventurer" can achieve.

Copper Rating: Lv.20 (ca. 15%)

Copper-rated adventurers have completed a number of basic quests and developed a foundational understanding of their responsibilities as adventurers, but still lack both experience and skill to take on more dangerous work. Copper-rated adventurers usually handle pest control and other largely inconsequential work.

Trainee Ratings (ca. 20%)

Tin Rating: Lv.10 (ca. 10%)

Tin-rated adventurers have finished their basic training and orientation and have a rudimentary understanding of what awaits them, forming the first rating at which one can be considered a "proper adventurer". Achieving this rating is often accompanied by celebration, and it is considered a significant milestone in any budding adventurer's journey.

Sprout Rating: Lv.1 (ca. 10%)

The sprout rating is given to any newly-registered adventurer who has not yet proven themselves in any capacity, and who may or may not yet be ready for field work. Sprout-rated adventurers are not permitted to accept quests alone, and must always be accompanied by a guild member of the tin rating or higher while on a quest.

Other Ratings

Porcelain Rating: Lv.??

The porcelain rating is given to any member of the Adventurer's Guild who does not participate in combat-related work, such as craftsmen, gleaners, pure healers and similar, serving more as proof of allegiance and membership than as actual rating.

Adventurer's Code

These rules are purely in-character.1) I will be professional.
Guild members are expected to conduct themselves professionally. Actions damaging the reputation of the Adventurer's Guild as a whole may result in disciplinary actions ranging from fines and reduction of one's rating to loss of guild membership.
2) I will be a good guest.
Guild members enjoy the privilege of unrestricted travel, but not diplomatic immunity: local laws and customs must always be followed and respected, even when conflicting with personal values.
3) I will maintain neutrality.
The Adventurer's Guild is an apolitical organization. While individual guild members are permitted to maintain personal allegiances, the Adventurer's Guild overall takes a stance of political neutrality. In severe cases of conflicting interests, guild membership may be revoked.
4) I will not bring harm to members of the guild.
Guild members may not intentionally or knowingly cause harm to other adventurers. This includes direct physical attacks, indirect attempts at sabotage, purposeful misinformation, theft of property, and public slander.
5) I will assist guild members in need.
Guild members are required to provide the highest possible level of assistance without endangering themselves to one another in times of emergency. If this leads to the failure of a quest, compensation will be provided by the guild.
6) I will keep my promises.
Guild members agree that upon accepting a quest, the reward and objectives are exactly as listed on the posting. Attempts to renegotiate the conditions post-acceptance lead to automatic failure and bar the current party from retries.
